Are people getting dumber?

I am dying from the drought. Period. I understand that actresses/actors need to rest and writers need time to think of new story plot. I shall not whine! There is always something called re-watching I guess...

After analyzing the shows and the viewership of each shows, I am upset to see that some shows that are easily award winning are not given the accolades and the nods that they rightly deserved. These shows have plot, depth and requires a whole lot of thinking and all the TV broadcasting stations do is to cut them off due to low ratings. Which really bags the question, are audience becoming stupider?

Sitcoms are finally getting the come backs, but it seems like there are too many of them around and all the family dramas while heart warming are getting a little dull for my taste. I started off with Dawson's a long time ago and I have to say that dramas then are so much more fun and pleasurable to watch. The dramas happening in current shows just seem so forced. Yet, these shows still get high ratings. I am not criticising any shows in particular, for one, I do love Friends and HIMYM (let's just meet the mother for god's sake!) , I am just a little upset at how we can't be more well rounded and watch other shows that may seem a little dark, but in actual fact is a master piece and pushes you to put on your thinking cap.

Joss Whedon shows such as firefly and doll houses are good examples of dramas that makes you think about stepping out of our normal boundaries to think about technology and neuro science. The other show which I believe is not getting their due from the broadcasting station is Fringe. Gosh! What a smart remake of  X files, I admit I was a little afraid that it might get too similar to X files, but luckily they were able to hold their own. The cases are interesting and since it is all connected to the bigger picture, nearly every episode is crucial in understanding. This is one of the rare few shows that I don't skip episodes because it gets too predictable.

the ensemble is brilliant. I am telling you Anna Torv and John Noble at least deserve an emmy nod! Come on, Anna acted magnificently as both our Olivia, Fauxlivia and William Bell. She rightfully deserves it, plus she kicks ass without being arrogant, she doesn't hide the fact that she wears her emotions on her sleeves and the most important thing, she is not annoying. Some actresses gets a little annoying playing this sort of strong female character. thankfully she doesn't, all she does is tug your heart strings and makes you scream with joy when she finally gets her man. (:

John Noble as our adorably smart scientist/genius. Is there anything else I have to say about him. I love his chemistry with the cast and how he always forget's Astrid's name (But who can blame him, Astro sounds so much cuter!)

I just wish that more people enjoy the show because it is brilliant. To be honest, not all can endue the gory and disturbing scenes, but pushing that point aside, the idea is fantastic. Mutation, teleportation , mind control , it is an orgasm for the bio nerds. (and I am not even a bio student) Please please let peter and olivia get the ending that they deserve and WE deserve for enduring the scenes when they are torn apart time after time.

Can't wait for season 5. I am just a little unsettled that there will only be 5 seasons. You realise that all spy shows/ bio science shows rarely last after 5 seasons while shows like grey's anatomy can continue on like nobody's business even though the writing is getting a little out of hand. I will still watch, just to make sure you don't kill off Arizona. Don't you DARE.

catch this trailer if you can!

rambles

I can't help it. This entire City Harvest Church (CHC) fiasco is making me laugh uncontrollably. Everyone should just wait patiently for the verdict of the trial. However, that does not mean that people can't have their own established judgements, to ask people to stop making judgements is like asking people to stop breathing. Impossible. Whatever it is, this is an accountability , not a religious problem. Praying to god doesn't really seem to help does it? Let the committee members do their job. If there is a problem, then just handle it from then.

In the mean time, take a chill pill and continue on with our daily lives.

On a sadder note,

Rest in peace Ms Jacqueline Law
You have been a wonderful actress and I believe an outstanding woman.
Thank you
