I am waiting for an epiphany

Do you feel that sometimes when your friends talk to you, all you hear is noise and you can't grasp onto anything that they are saying? I guess that is how I feel right now. I am lost in my own world, not knowing how to respond properly in reality.
After graduation I thought that I had pretty clear goals laid out in front of me and I would follow. Yet right now, the path is ahead but I am refusing to take that road. I honestly have no idea what to do with my life right now. People said that Taurus who are born on my birth date are late starters but once they aim, they are trailblazers. I hope that is the case for me because I need an epiphany or an awakening...

If only I could live my life just by watching television shows and falling for every show that I set my sights upon. I could be a couch potato! But sitting there and doing nothing doesn't sit well with me. (no pun intended) The shows that captivate my attention are often shows that have strong female leads who know their place in the world. Probably that's why I can't stop my finger from clicking the play button, I want what they have, faith and dreams and perfect guy out there and their little own urban tribe. I have none right now.

Let's hope a one month sabbatical will clear up my mind and prepare me for my next journey in life. For now, let me just indulge in my shows, the break is killing me, come September and maybe all my rants will be gone. Maybe all these feelings exploded out because the break is slowly eating me away. Ha. How pathetic.

Waiting list:
Bones (My love for Dr Brennan and Olivia has no boundaries...)
Fringe
Big Bang Theory
HIMYM
Grey's Anatomy (only the first episode)
Once upon a time.

Are people getting dumber?

I am dying from the drought. Period. I understand that actresses/actors need to rest and writers need time to think of new story plot. I shall not whine! There is always something called re-watching I guess...

After analyzing the shows and the viewership of each shows, I am upset to see that some shows that are easily award winning are not given the accolades and the nods that they rightly deserved. These shows have plot, depth and requires a whole lot of thinking and all the TV broadcasting stations do is to cut them off due to low ratings. Which really bags the question, are audience becoming stupider?

Sitcoms are finally getting the come backs, but it seems like there are too many of them around and all the family dramas while heart warming are getting a little dull for my taste. I started off with Dawson's a long time ago and I have to say that dramas then are so much more fun and pleasurable to watch. The dramas happening in current shows just seem so forced. Yet, these shows still get high ratings. I am not criticising any shows in particular, for one, I do love Friends and HIMYM (let's just meet the mother for god's sake!) , I am just a little upset at how we can't be more well rounded and watch other shows that may seem a little dark, but in actual fact is a master piece and pushes you to put on your thinking cap.

Joss Whedon shows such as firefly and doll houses are good examples of dramas that makes you think about stepping out of our normal boundaries to think about technology and neuro science. The other show which I believe is not getting their due from the broadcasting station is Fringe. Gosh! What a smart remake of  X files, I admit I was a little afraid that it might get too similar to X files, but luckily they were able to hold their own. The cases are interesting and since it is all connected to the bigger picture, nearly every episode is crucial in understanding. This is one of the rare few shows that I don't skip episodes because it gets too predictable.

the ensemble is brilliant. I am telling you Anna Torv and John Noble at least deserve an emmy nod! Come on, Anna acted magnificently as both our Olivia, Fauxlivia and William Bell. She rightfully deserves it, plus she kicks ass without being arrogant, she doesn't hide the fact that she wears her emotions on her sleeves and the most important thing, she is not annoying. Some actresses gets a little annoying playing this sort of strong female character. thankfully she doesn't, all she does is tug your heart strings and makes you scream with joy when she finally gets her man. (:

John Noble as our adorably smart scientist/genius. Is there anything else I have to say about him. I love his chemistry with the cast and how he always forget's Astrid's name (But who can blame him, Astro sounds so much cuter!)

I just wish that more people enjoy the show because it is brilliant. To be honest, not all can endue the gory and disturbing scenes, but pushing that point aside, the idea is fantastic. Mutation, teleportation , mind control , it is an orgasm for the bio nerds. (and I am not even a bio student) Please please let peter and olivia get the ending that they deserve and WE deserve for enduring the scenes when they are torn apart time after time.

Can't wait for season 5. I am just a little unsettled that there will only be 5 seasons. You realise that all spy shows/ bio science shows rarely last after 5 seasons while shows like grey's anatomy can continue on like nobody's business even though the writing is getting a little out of hand. I will still watch, just to make sure you don't kill off Arizona. Don't you DARE.

catch this trailer if you can!

rambles

I can't help it. This entire City Harvest Church (CHC) fiasco is making me laugh uncontrollably. Everyone should just wait patiently for the verdict of the trial. However, that does not mean that people can't have their own established judgements, to ask people to stop making judgements is like asking people to stop breathing. Impossible. Whatever it is, this is an accountability , not a religious problem. Praying to god doesn't really seem to help does it? Let the committee members do their job. If there is a problem, then just handle it from then.

In the mean time, take a chill pill and continue on with our daily lives.

On a sadder note,

Rest in peace Ms Jacqueline Law
You have been a wonderful actress and I believe an outstanding woman.
Thank you

Joss Whedon is my Master now

I am in love with Joss Whedon's brain. If I could, I would love to pick on his brain sometime. His works are profound, female empowering, the characters he creates endears people, the lines he come up with are witty and smart-assed. This man is a genius.

I guess Big Bang Theory lovers would have heard of Firefly through Sheldon. (This man wrote in to Fox to beg them not to stop Firefly- supports-) Of course everyone has heard of Buffy the Vampire Slayer in the 1990s, if you haven't, I have no idea what you are doing with your time. Next came the spin off, Angel. Other intellectually challenging shows like serenity and dollhouse. Oh and of course to add to his long line of credits we have the -oh-so-famous- AVENGERS that top the box office for 3 weeks straight. Yep, this guy is not losing his game at all.

Whedon often has the tendency to cast the same actors/ actresses over and over again, especially the females, thus the Whedon girls title. And these girls are pretty amazing by themselves.

Let's see, we have the picture perfect Summer Glau that got Howard and Rajesh fighting each other like little kids on the train (It's hot, must be Summer), the perpetually hot Eliza Dushku, the wonderfully sweet and endearing Amy Acker and my current craze Felicia Day. Is there anything this girl can't do?! Valedictorian, National Merit Scholar, Double Major in Mathematics and Music Performance, plays the violin professionally, creator of awesome web series, has a haunting voice, worked with Neil Patrick Harris, best friends with Alyson Hannigan. DAMN, God, Why you so unfair.

Let's not forget he boost Alyson Hannigan (awesome human being) to fame by casting her as one of my favourite characters of all time, Willow Rosenberg. While the title of the show is Buffy the Vampire Slayer, let's face it, majority of us were seriously watching just because of Willow. I cry when she cries, I laugh when she laughs, scream when she screams. (Okay that is pushing it a little...) Without this, we wouldn't have Lily Aldrin in How I met your mother and Sandy Rivers. They should just have the whedon ladies and gentlemen (Especially Buffy and Angel stars) to guest star on HIMYM all the time. I am sure the creators of HIMYM will wet their pants. (They are huge fans) I know I will.

Another point about Joss Whedon's brillance, he is the pioneer of many unique forms of drama episodes, such as musical episode. (Once more with feelings,) that inspired other shows to do it too (Grey's Anatomy, House, How I met your mother -isn't it cool that he was there at the film set of HIMYM's musical episode! Aly invited him) and an episode that uses purely music and no dialogue. (Hush)

Yep, this man can create anything and I will just sit down and watch. ((:

フェアリーテイル

My most recent anime obsession: フェアリーテイル
<3

Action, touching past stories, magic, amazing character, AWESOME soundtrack. What's not to love?

The funniest thing was that I got started on this anime due to the soundtrack itself.
I just happened to watch a well made buffy fan video and fell in love with the soundtrack that the maker used for the background music. A few seconds of search over the internet lead me to the Fairy tail OST and I thought the anime should be great since it had such magnificent music.
6 episodes into the anime, I fell head over heels over Erza Scarlet, I would like to think of her as the main female protagonist rather than Lucy just because I prefer her character development and her bad ass attitude. Not that I don't like Lucy, just that I find her character a little too dull and plain for me. ><

Then there are characters such as Laxus, Mystogan, Gajeel, Jellal and Mirajane that gets you thinking whether there is something more to them.

All in all, Fairy tail is now one of my favourite anime. Naruto, Bleach and One piece are a little too Shonen for my taste. Fairy tail has a good mix, plus girls, some of Erza's armour are to die for. (:

Latest Read

Alright, I know this is not Japanese related, but my latest read is Nalini Singh's Angel Flight, a combination of all the wonderful short stories that she has to offer us.

The book cover is just captivating. I love the angel's pose depicted on the cover, heart wrenching and beautiful all at the same time. If you have the time, grab the book in stores or through amazon.com. I can guarantee that you will not be disappointed. My favorite story is Noel's story with Nimra. I am loving this guy to pieces seriously. We should all have a Noel in our lives.

Also, tomorrow, is the one year Commemoration for the Great East Japan Earthquake 311. Japan has come a long way from the disaster and is slowing recovering and I am glad to be part of the group that has helped out one way or the other.
